Beef Giveaway!

Anna at Lifebedelicious is having a giveaway!
Please head on over to Anna's blog,
she is absolutely crazy for beef!

She has been involved with raising cattle her whole life.
She even married a cattleman, who use to be a
sheepman, but that's another story.
I bet she even knows all
the cuts of meat
and
could probably even recite them
all with out this poster....
Good Luck!

To My Valentine!

"the way I am"
If you were falling, then I would catch you
You need a light, I'd find a match
Cuz I love the way you say good morning
And you take me the way I am
If you are chilly, here take my sweater
Your head is aching; I'll make it better
Cuz I love the way you call me baby
And you take me the way I am
I'd buy you Rogaine when you start losing all your hair
Sew on patches to all you tear
Cuz I love you more than I could ever promise
And you take me the way I am
You take me the way I am
You take me the way I am

Cold Weather Dessert

This dessert takes me back to my childhood.
We could always count on "rice and milk" being on the stove.
We never grew tired of it.
It was a little chilly in Arizona yesterday, what better
than a bowl full of warm
rice and milk.
(I can eat it cold or warm, I love the stuff!)
Petie's Rice and Milk
1 1/2 cups white rice
(I like to use the rice from Sprouts that comes in the bins, #6624)
4 sticks of cinnamon
1 tsp. salt
Combine the rice, cinnamon sticks and salt with 3 cups of water
in a heavy bottom stainless steel pan. Bring it to a boil, stir, and simmer,
covered on the lowest heat for 8 to 10 minutes,
until most of the water is absorbed.
1 pint of heavy whipping cream
6 cups milk or 2%
1 cup sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
Pour the cream into a 8 cup measuring bowl,
add enough milk to make 8 cups. Stir in the milk and sugar and bring to a boil.
Turn the heat down and simmer uncovered for 25 minutes,
until the rice is very soft and the milk has thickened.
Stir often, especially towards the end.
Turn the heat off and add the vanilla and stir.
Eat warm or cold, just don't eat the cinnamon sticks.
Enjoy!

Somebody Stop Me.....

Yes, I am addicted to thrift shopping.
I found this white ironstone platter
at the local Salvation Army.
The regular price was $2.99. They were having
40% off of everything in the store that day, so my grand total for this
beautiful plate was, $1.80.
I can't believe it either.
Happy Shopping!

Oh My! These are fabulous!

First, let me warn you.....
You will not be able to eat just one or even just two of these cookies.
Once you start you can't stop.
The recipe makes around 7 dozen and they were gone the next day.
I think I ate "18". Yes, you read that right, "18" all by myself.
But who's counting?
They are delicious and addicting. Remember, you have been warned...
You can find the recipe printed on the inside of the
Oatmeal box lid.
The only thing that I did different,
was add 1 1/2 cups of sliced almonds. I love almonds.

I used the small cookie scooper
and was only able to get
9 cookies on a cookie sheet.
(They flatten out quite a bit.)
Enjoy!
