Frost by Numbers

Have you seen this
frosting color chart from The Food Network?
It shows you how to make practically any color using just a
standard box of food coloring...
Where has this chart been for the last 25 years?

Who Knew

that I was cleaning my house
by burning candles

We love the sweet, pure fragrance and natural air purifying properties of beeswax candles, which burn longer and cleaner than ordinary wax candles. Their slow, smokeless flames give off more light and heat than other waxes, and are virtually dripless.
When burning, beeswax candles emit negative ions that help rid your home of odors and toxins by attracting and then destroying positively charged particles that float toward the flame. This process cleans the air of positive ions such as dust, pollen, mold, and viruses.

I confess
I love burning candles
I love to light them
and then after they have burned a few hours
I love to blow them out
I love the smell of a blown out candle
I love walking into a Catholic Church
and taking a whiff
of all the burning candles
that have been lit in offerings to prayers
I almost always visit Mary
and light a candle or two for my loved ones
or my enemies
there's a fine line between the two
I think the beeswax candles above are a good investment
they seem to burn the longest
and I love the way my house smells after burning them
and the housekeeper won't have to work so hard
at least,
that is what I will tell my hubby

A Wool Blanket

Wool Blankets
were a staple in my home
growing up
My Mom would send wool from my Dad's sheep
to the woolen mills to have blankets made
Growing up
I didn't give them much thought
they were always on our beds
winter summer fall and spring
I have one wool blanket
from my Mother's collection
If I had a fire in my home
it would be one of the things I would grab

I love the colors in the wool blanket above
I think it would be perfect for a boy's bed

Cowboy Candy

My niece and her husband are
jalapeno growers
so jalapeno's are always in abundance
last week I was blessed with
a bag of hot and mild
I love the recipe for candied jalapenos
from pw
you can find it here
three pounds of jalapenos
yielded 4 jars
I gave one jar to my seester
since she happened to be at my house
when I was canning them
candied jalapenos
are sweet and spicey and addicting
we like to eat them with cream cheese
and crackers
I can't wait to open up a jar
